Dark DJ Presents "Remixes"

Remixes: Voluem Two

Over the past two years, I have had the pleasure of not only advancing my own music, but also learning new remix techniques too. Due to the vast amount of time I usually have at my disposal(I'm very lazy in reality...), I've also compiled a vast amount of remixes, edits and versions of other artist's songs.

Of course, seeing as half of these remixes were for my own enjoyment, and most were not scheduled to be added to the original artist's releases or projects, I decided to begin a series of compilations, Simply called "Remixes".

These "Volumes" include remixes of tracks from mainly fellow artists / friends from "thedaftclub.com" and from MSN, and a few remixes of other more well known artists such as Daft Punk and Ian Pooley.

In any case, Here is the first volume In case anyone missed it, didn't know about it or didn't care:

Remixes: Volume One (2008)

And this is the next volume:

Remixes: Volume Two (12-05-2009)

Enjoy the remixes!

Dark House Remixes

Anyone fancy remixing tracks from my "Dark House" EP?

Photobucket

Firstly, You can download the Original EP from my mediafire account, Here. Secondly, a backstory to what is essentially my most popular release to date:

Released in late 2008, "Dark House" was my very first venture into "Sampling": That is, taking old disco songs and transforming them into magnificently house-esque songs with a dark undertone, Hence the title.

Now, I myself used to think that artists who sample are pretty much stealing old songs and "Remixing" them. Piece of cake, right? WRONG! My first attempt didnt work out so well (never saved it...) mainly because I could'nt really work the samples as they were...

So, with the help of a Sample Cutter, I managed to actually try it out proporly, by cutting up the sample and changing pitch, reverb, sequence etc. The final version of this experiment was "Felix", one of my better known tracks. (Although I have a suspicion that is because it's name and the overall structure of the track is simmilar to Daft Punk's "Phoenix".)

Playing a little more, I came up with "Ignis Vantage", which sounded again quite simmilar to "Felix" but I feel it had a better quality sample. Afterwards came "Pikes Peak", Which was originally voted the worst track on the EP, but I love it to death for some reason, no matter what anyone said!(Overprotectiveness much? And I put ALOT of work into this one!)

Possibly considered the "Filler Track" of this EP, "Funk" was actually one of my personal favourites until I finished the final track. I Think I liked this one because the name really suited the style of the song. (And is, again, simmilar to the title of another Daft Punk song, "Da Funk".)

But my true masterpiece of this album, many would agree, was "Caracus Smash". A truly epic piece of sampling on my part, created using the awkward sample I tried to use for my first attempt at sampling ("Tell Me Why, Performed By "Change", this is now one of my absolute favourite tracks, and I hope will go down in history as one of my Greatest Hits.

Anyways, enough of the history lesson! I've created sample packs for all of these, in the hope that I'll get enough variable remixes to make an album with. But also because I want to see some more love for these truly strange and epic sampled house songs. :)

Here are the sample packs for each song:

01 Felix

02 Funk

03 Pikes Peak

04 Ignis Vantage

05 Caracus Smash

Each sample pack should contain the original samples I used, as well as the cut up samples and other sounds (Drums, Synths etc.)If you do decide to remix any of these, Post a comment with a download link, or MSN / email me at: thomasdibden(at)hotmail(dot)com (sorry for that, But it reduces spam, allegedly.

Thanks

Those B******s At Discogs...

...Are in the process of removing my "Dark Trax" discography, labelling me as a Bedroom DJ. Im More Of A House Musician, Actually! I'm pretty furious with them, as It took me the best half of three days to complete it proporly...

Photobucket

Nevermind, I've only created "Dark Trax" to proporly catagorise all my releases...I Can Easily Redo It On My Website...

Hmm...I wonder If I could Do the Discography on Internet Archive...

One Right Release

So it has finally reached the deadline for One Wrong Turn...And it's another three track single...

One Wrong Turn Single (Download Link)

Tracklist:

01 One Wrong Turn

02 One Wrong Turn (Renumber)

03 One Wrong Turn (Sounds Like Johnny Depp Remix)

I'm loving the SLJD remix, for its deep electro-trance and distinctive style, but i'll always prefer the original...although the renumber IS close to perfect, apart from being over 7 minutes long...

Anyways, Enjoy!

In America!

Collaboratin Time!

Me and a friend (Below) have collaborated to create a Song! Well when I say we collaborated, He created the vocals and I created the music. It's not the best i've ever composed, but Its all in the name of fun and randomness!

The track's idea is based around Daniel's phrase "In America!" Which, for the life of me, I can't remember where he got it from. Oh Well...Its still pretty funky. Below Is A picture of The Lyricist and Vocalist, Daniel Talbot.

One Wrong Artwork

First of all, apologies for all the "One Wrong Turn" titles lately, Trying too hard to make puns...

Anyway, The main reason I'm posting is because of my recently finished artwork for the "One Wrong Turn" Single.

Anyone else like this? I think, personally, it is Genius!

The Shadow Group

Photobucket

Finally! After much discussion and muddling up stuff, me and a few members of The Daft Club have finally sorted out this new DJ Group. And we've even (more or less) finished our first mix!

Well, when I say we, I Mean Three People: Me, Gavin, and DJ Waybig. You know who you are. Anyway, the track we've remixed is actually one of my own, "Automatic", Though it's a bit late to put it on the single / ep I'm afraid...

So waybig (aka Smashtwisted)created the initial samples (The Intro) while I shamelessly took on the duty of completing the entire track. With luck, He will take the track back and add more to it, or gavin will be able to have a go at editing it.

This is what it sounds like so far: Automatic (The Shadow Group Remix)

More Wrong Turns

I Think I shall need a few remixes for my "One Wrong Turn" single...

So, in this case, Ive asked three people to have a stab at remixing it (Joe Mitchell, Daft Rebel & Hani), and by now they should have the sample pack, which is downloadable
here if anyone's interested in having a go themselves...

With Luck, I want to have this single finished by about the 4th May, So that I can press on and finish "Darkness".

Check back soon.
